The principal of Northwood Elementary School in Hilton has resigned following accusations of sexually abusing dozens of students throughout his time as an employee.
The Hilton Central School District Board of Education approved the agreement to separate and secure Kirk Ashton’s resignation.
According to a statement released by the board, Ashton is being paid for his accrued vacation, sick days, and five months of salary.
They added that the Superintendent and Board did not take the decision to enter into an agreement lightly, but that Ashton was protected under his tenure rights by law.
The former principal was arrested in April after being accused of sexually abusing 11 boys between the ages of 8 and 12 from 2017 until spring break of this year.
It is alleged that he abused boys in his office at the school as well.
The lawsuit filed claims that the assaults were happening almost daily in the school.
Ashton has pleaded not guilty to over 25 counts of different sex abuse charges.
An unsealed indictment from June showed 15 more victims and 28 more charges.
He remains at the Niagara County Jail and has been on administrative leave since April 8.
