Wegmans brand eggs will no longer be sold in polystyrene foam containers.
The new cartons will be made of recycled newsprint and paper. They’re recyclable and biodegradable.
The change makes it so 625,000 pounds of polystyrene foam will no longer be used yearly.
Wegmans’ goal is to reduce the use of single-use plastic by 10 million pounds by the year 2024.
Customers were the ones who voiced their want for paper products.
