In August 2021, members of the Seneca Falls Police Department documented 2022 duty-related events. These events include: responding to 993 calls for service, conducting 882 property checks on both business and residential properties, and 117 traffic stops.
Fifty-Six traffic tickets were issued consisting of 0 Felony, 13 Misdemeanor, and 43 Infractions. Out of these traffic tickets, officers arrested four individuals for Driving While Intoxicated.
Twenty-Six motor vehicle crashes were investigated in August, consisting of 1 personal injury and 25 property damage.
Forty-Eight individuals were arrested, resulting in 58 Penal Law charges. These charges yielded the filing of 4 Felony, 20 Misdemeanors, and 34 Violations with Town Court. This agency recorded two subject resistance report in August during one contact, resulting in no injuries to the civilian or officers. There were zero citizen/officer complaints filed and numerous citizen/officer compliments filed.
The Seneca Falls Police Department members utilized the department iPad for remote mental health services three times. Out of the three times, all three individuals were stabilized within their home, requiring no transports for further evaluation by Clifton Springs Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program.
In comparing August 2020 to August 2021, calls for service were up 48% (670/993); criminal charges were up 5% (53/58); traffic tickets were down 55% (126/56); traffic accidents were up 19% (21/26). Domestic Disturbance was Up 4% (21/26); Mental Health Incidents were down 16% (25/21); Driving While Intoxicated arrests were down 20% (5/4).
