There are more than 10 million open jobs in the U.S. While the jobs report from early September disappointed amid rising COVID Delta variant infections across largely unvaccinated states the end of coronavirus pandemic fueled unemployment benefits last weekend was expected to fuel a move back to work.
Now there’s new data on the best jobs to get that do not require a college degree. SkillPointe, an authority on skill-based careers that require two-years or less of training released a job score report, which emphasizes skilled trade and non-degree professions.
Even better news: These opportunities represent 2.3 million openings across the U.S., according to SkillPointe.
The report focuses on the best jobs in the current economy that do not require a four-year degree. Many have criticized the number of applicants for jobs that are immediately rejected due to an unnecessary four-year job requirement. This list of jobs, which goes beyond the essential service industry opportunities, addresses the salary limitations of jobs that do not require a degree.
“While retail and hospitality have faced significant challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic, other industries still offer amazing opportunities with lots of growth, strong salaries, and future job security, all without a college degree,” SkillPointe Founder Todd Wilson said. “These jobs do require some training, but fast-track options are available at local community colleges and trade schools for a fraction of the cost of a four-year program. Employer apprenticeships are also a great option.”
Is there a catch? Most of the jobs do require training, certification, and some level of education – but do not require four years. Very few of the opportunities that made the Top-25 can be acquired without any background.
