Three retired Auburn police officers open a redemption center in Owasco

A new redemption center has been opened at 7259 Owasco Road in Owasco.

Bag O’ Nickels was started by three retired Auburn police officers: Chris Major, John Breeze and Brian Blanchfield. They partnered with Rob Swietoniowski and Mark DiVietro to start the business.

The grand opening was held Saturday at the former McLaughlin Glass.

They felt that their business was something the area needed, and also made it more convenient with the option of customers having their returnables picked up as well as paying them with Venmo or PayPal.

Other services include customers donating their returnables to a beneficiary of their choosing, dropping them off to be paid through Venmo or PayPal later instead of waiting for cash, or even having any money put into a Christmas savings account.

Containers are also available for events that require recycling, including nicer ones for formal events like weddings.
