The Town Board of Fayette has created a law that will prohibit the commercial sale of marijuana.
A hearing for the proposed law will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 during the regular board meeting.
According to Supervisor Cindy Lorenzetti, the vote was unanimous and will likely be adopted into law pending the public hearing.
Lorenzetti said they don’t know enough surrounding retail sales yet, only possession and use.
She also said that if a town opts out with the use of a local law they can still allow retail sales later on.
