Onondaga County employees presented with award for helping to save a woman’s life

Onondaga County recognized two of its employees Thursday for saving someone’s life on July 2.

Deputy James Barrella responded to an unconscious and unresponsive county employee on the 15th floor of the Mulroy Civic Center in Syracuse.

Barrella and Donald Weber, Director of County Real Property Tax Development, performed CPR but were unsuccessful.

Barrella used an AED and he and Weber continued CPR until paramedics arrived.

The victim was revived and brought to the hospital.

Sheriff Eugene Conway believes without their assistance the woman would not have survived.
