Cortland man arrested after pulling a knife on a police officer in a convenience store

A Cortland man has been arrested on charges of menacing a police officer following an incident in a convenience store.

On Wednesday afternoon around 12:15 p.m. officers were called to the Dandy Mini Mart on West Buffalo Street in Ithaca for a dispute.

The man told police he was angry and the staff and felt mistreated.

When talking to the man in the store police learned there was a third party involved in the argument and police asked that man, Donald Little III, to remain in his car to diffuse the situation.

Little would not stay in his car and addressed the officer to express his frustration about the original dispute.

Little continued to yell at the first man and the officer then aggressively opened a folding knife in close proximity to the officer.

The officer then drew their weapon and demanded Little drop the knife, to which he complied.

He was arrested with no issue and charged with menacing a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was admitted to the Tompkins County Jail on $1,000 cash bail.
