Head of Rush-Henrietta schools and president of the Monroe County Council of School Superintendents, Lawrence Wright, was not at all surprised by the mask mandate.
Anyone ages 2 and up will need to mask up while inside of a school building.
Some parents are pushing back, but Wright thinks it’s a small price to may to get kids back into the classrooms.
He is hopeful that even if families do not agree with the enforcement that they’ll still be respectful and follow the rules.
An East Rochester parent has decided to allow her older sons to return to school because they chose to wear a face mask, but that she should be able to decide that as the parent of her youngest daughter.
Monroe County reported 221 new cases on Sunday, and at this time last year, there was only 12 new cases a day being reported.
