On Sunday Gov. Kathy Hochul attended the New York State Fair to unveil a new memorial dedicated to fallen highway workers in the state of New York.
The memorial is near the midway entrance and Horticulture Building.
The memorial is dedicated to highway workers that have died while working to create safe roadways, bridges, and towing to keep New York’s roads safe.
Between 2003 and 2017, 1,844 works have died at road construction sites across the country.
56 workers belong to the New York State Department of Transportation have died since its creation.
