One of the early tools people would frequent when the pandemic first began was the Worldometer and its tracking of COVID cases.
As the novelty wore off and cases subsided, people were less likely to check it out as frequently, so here’s an update on numbers.
In total the Worldometer has tallied 214,696,288 cases of COVID. 4,475,354, or .02% of those resulted in deaths.
192,024,284 are recovered, leaving 18,196,650 actively infected.
The leading country in new cases for the day, Aug. 25, is the USA with 170,349. New deaths for the USA are 1,277. In good news, there were 55,333 new recoveries.
India and Iran follow behind the USA for new cases. India reported 46,397 and Iran reported 39,983.
Indonesia was the only other country with over 1,000 new deaths today.
When looking more closely at the USA there are 39,157,231 total cases, 649,680 deaths, and 30,678,239 recovered.
Florida leads for newly reported cases today at 26,203 and Texas reported the most deaths at 245.
