Cayuga County’s unemployment rate has declined since last year, a trend over the years, but people partaking in the labor force also declined.
What was an unemployment rate of 11.0% for July of 2020 became a rate of 5.2% in 2021.
Employed residents climbed to 33,200, up 700, and unemployed dropped from 2,200 to 1,800.
Cayuga County is the 25th lowest of 62 counties in the state with Hamilton as the lowest at 3.9% and Bronx as the highest at 13.9%.
