The Red Wings mashed five home runs Tuesday in a 10-2 beat down of the Syracuse Mets in game one of their week-long set in the Salt City.
Keibert Ruiz and Daniel Palka each hit two homers and Mike Ford added a three-run moon shot in his first game with the team.
Ruiz and Palka went back-to-back in the first inning to stake the visitors to a 2-0 lead. Palka’s second of the night in the third inning made it 4-0.
Ford’s blast came in the seventh inning and made it 8-0.
Ruiz and Palka – hitting second and third in the lineup – went a combined 7-for-10 with four homers, six RBI and five runs scored.
Overshadowed by all the offense was starter Josh Rogers who tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings allowing just four hits and a walk.
The Wings have now won six of their last eight games and look to keep rolling in Wednesday’s twin bill in Syracuse.
