12-year-old from Running4Heroes to run a mile in Weedsport in support of fallen first responders

A fundraising event is being held Saturday, Aug. 28 by the Weedsport Fire Department. Immediately following, Zechariah Cartledge from Running4Heroes, will pay tribute to fallen first responders in New York by running a mile.

The 12-year-old Floridian has been running since age 7 and is now 1,000 miles into his journey.

The run will be in the parking lot of the Weedsport Junior Senior High School and begin no later than 5:30 p.m.

For every fallen first responder, Cartledge runs one mile holding a flag that he later sends to the family.

Weedsport Fire Department is asking local departments to send an apparatus to line the parking lot with in support of Cartledge and the work he is doing.
