Former New York Lt. Gov. Mary Anne Krupsak ran for the position in 1974.
One of her volunteers on her campaign was a high school student and her name was Kathy Hochul.
At 89, Krupsak will now see Hochul take over as the first female governor for the state of New York.
Krupsak served at Lt. Gov. from 1975 to 1978 and was the first woman to hold office.
She believes Kathy Hochul will do a great job and is exactly what the state of New York needs right now.
