Things to know about the New York State Fair before you go

The New York State Fair opens today and will be the longest Fair in history, running until Sept. 6.

The Fair will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. between Aug. 20 and Sept. 5.

The Fair will close for the season at 9 p.m. on Sept. 6.


The cost to attend in $3 and seniors over 65 and children under 12 are free.

COVID precautions include requiring masks inside buildings, asking unvaccinated people to always wear masks (though their status will not be checked), cashless parking and entry, frequent sanitizing of rides and equipment, and vaccines and tests being made available at the Art and Home Center.

Marijuana use is permitted by adults wherever smoking is allowed.
