The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Dansville man following an investigation in the town of Bath on August 12.
It’s alleged that James Hilligus, 47, of Dansville held a person against their will at knifepoint and threatened them with a crowbar. He’s also accused of acting recklessly during the incident- and even assaulting the victim.
Deputies said in a news release that the victim received treatment at the scene, as well as a local medical facility.
Hilligus was charged with three counts of felony assault, reckless endangerment as a felony, as well as kidnapping as a felony.
All of the charges will be answered at a later date in local court. Deputies said Hilligus was held on $1,000 cash bail.
