Public Health Director Kathleen Cuddy and Auburn Community Hospital Medical Director Dr. Paul Fu are both urging Cayuga County residents to get the vaccine, wear masks, and remain home if feeling ill.
They say the community is not well protected with a vaccination rate of only 50% and many positive cases are showing up among children, who cannot be vaccinated.
Between vaccine rates not increasing to the level of herd immunity and the Delta variant being spread so easily, there is a cause for concern.
22 new cases were reported by the County Health Department, the most within a 2 day time period in almost 3 months.
