Local Ranger returns after fighting Bootleg Fire in Oregon

After fighting the Bootleg Fire in Oregon for two weeks, a Prattsburgh native has returned home.

Timothy Carpenter, a Ranger, was the first NYS Forest Ranger to go to the Beaver State and combat the fire that started July 6th before tearing through 400,000 acres of land.

Carpenter, who is based out of Steuben County, left to fight the fire on July 10 and joined over 2,000 federal, state, and local fire agencies.

The fire is 53% contained right now.
