Students, members of the Schuyler County Coalition Against Underage Drinking and Drugs, and the Schuyler County DA went before the Public Safety Committee of Schuyler County to push for the local law “Social Host” to be passed.
The law would hold the adults who host gatherings where underage individuals are drinking and using drugs criminally liable.
The law won’t target parents that legally allow their own child to drink and it has an exception for medical marijuana.
When found guilty, the host can face a fine of $250 and up to 15 days in jail.
