Yates County home caught fire Sunday night, cause is still unknown

Following a fire that happened Sunday night in Yates County, seven people made it out safely.

A porch fire before 8:30 p.m. at Nicholas Sorce’s Log City Road home resulted in firefighters being called, and upon arrival the fire was through the roof of the house.

The house has severe smoke, fire and water damage.


The cause is currently unknown.

Fire departments that responded to the fire include Himrod, Penn Yan, Dresden, Watkins Glen, Montour Falls, Tyrone, Wayne, Branchport-Keuka Park, Benton, and West Lake Road.

Dundee and Schuyler ambulances were on seen as well as the Yates County Fire Investigation Team, and the Yates County Office of Emergency Management.
