Library in Steuben County votes to eliminate fines for customers

The Southeast Steuben County Library has made the decision to become fine free, and just wants people to return their late items.

Pauline Emery, Director of the Southeast Steuben County Library, said that they got rid of the fines during Covid-19. There was such positive feedback from it they decided to keep it that way.

It was voted on on July 15th and by taking away fines it lowers the barriers than exist between community members and access to books or library services.
