The Andover Central School District has chosen Dr. Derek Schuelein as their next superintendent.
Dr. Derek Schuelein is a former principal for a high school in Westchester County and he was approved July 1.
He will start his tenure for the Allegany County school district on August 14 and is making $135,000 the first year. He signed a three year contract.
His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies, a Master of Arts in Social Studies Education, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration. He also earned his doctorate at Manhatanville College.
He ended his employment for the Rye City School District in March before coming to Allegany.
He is replacing Lawrence E. Spangenburg who has been there since 2014 and plans to retire in August.
