After being forced to wait two years to celebrate, Arkport Summerfest will have the theme “Arkport Strong!” for their 33rd festival this year.
Bill Robinson, chairman of the Arkport Summerfest Committee, said that the theme is in line with the community of Arkport bouncing back after the pandemic.
Despite some people advising the committee to cancel for the 2021 festival, they decided to plan ahead for a July weekend anyway and see how it all worked out.
Robinson said while they aren’t requiring mask use, they encourage people to do the right think and respect everyone.
The festival schedule is as follows:
Thursday, July 8:
Main Street Block Party- A DJ will play music from 6-9 p.m. on Main Street.
Friday, July 9:
Music in the park- A DJ will play from 6-9 p.m. in the park, and while there are no live performances, Robinson says they’re open to impromptu performances that are respectful to the public.
Saturday, July 10:
5K run and walk- begins at 9 a.m. in the Village Park. Registration behind the Community Room begins at 7:30 a.m. and a $10 donation is requested.
Summerfest Parade- Marchers begin at the Arkport Central School at 11 a.m. Line up begins at 9 a.m.
Fireworks- 10 p.m. in the Village Park.
Sunday, July 11:
The Chemung Valley Antique & Classic Car Show- 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Village Park.
Friday, July 9- Sunday, July 11:
Festival in the park- food, games, vendors and other attractions from late Friday afternoon until Sunday.
