ASPCA offers tips on keeping pets safe this holiday weekend

The ASPCA is reminding people to keep their pets safe during the holiday weekend by offering tips on their website.

Some tips include to never leave out alcoholic beverages that they can get to. Never use sun screen or insect repellent on an animal unless the product states that it is safe to do so. Keep flammables like matches and lighters away from pets.

The ASPCA reminds pet owners that animals need to remain on a strict diet, foods like onions, chocolate, coffee, avocado and more can be toxic to animals. Changing their diet can also lead to indigestion.

Animals should be kept away and safe from fireworks. The noises can cause them to become scared and run off as well as burn them or cause trauma if they are too close.
