Ovid man arraigned on felony drug, weapon charges after failing to appear in earlier drug case

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of an Ovid man on a warrant from Seneca County Court following an investigation into the sale and manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Benjamin Nichols, 28, of Ovid was arrested on a warrant on charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine.

The charges stem from a case in December 2019 where Nichols failed to appear.

He was arraigned and will answer the charges at a later date. Deputies say he faces unrelated charges in Schuyler County, too.
