Frustration continues to grow as Canada’s borders remain closed.
Assemblyman Billy Jones urged President Biden’s administration to take “unilateral” action to reopen the U.S. Border with Canada. He touched on the detrimental effects it is having on the economy in the North Country Region.
Unvaccinated people remain a cause for concern during the spread of the new delta variant, and earlier it was announced the border will remain closed through at least mid-July.
Jones said the easing of quarantine rules was simply not enough for those who live in border communities like North Country.
He also stated that while the borders remain closed to those who can drive from Canada, those who can afford to fly do so, making it unfair.
Both the Democratic and Republican sides are expressing frustration as the once multibillion dollar trade halts due to the border closure.
