A Penn Yan man was taken into custody on an array of charges- including a felony drug charge- after police found a child laying on the floor of the vehicle he was operating, as well as a large quantity of drugs.
Police arrested Robert Grimaldi, 44, of Penn Yan following a traffic stop in the village of Penn Yan.
The Penn Yan Police Department was assisting the Yates County Sheriff’s Office in locating a vehicle that fit a description of one operated by Grimaldi.
They observed it and initiated a traffic stop. While approaching the car- officers saw a child laying on the floor of the vehicle. The child was not restrained inside the vehicle at all, according to police.
Officers checked Grimaldi’s driving privileges, which were found to be suspended. Police also located a large quantity of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
He was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a controlled substance- as a felony, criminal contempt, criminal possession of a controlled substance- as a misdemeanor, and ticketed for a number of traffic violations.
Grimaldi was transported to the Yates County Jail pending arraignment.
