The 22nd annual Wayne County Youth Fishing Derby began June 19 and will end July 31 this year. The even is for 4-16 year olds and hosted by the Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District and Wayne County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs.

There are three categories including the Al Schultz Memorial Challenge for 4-7-year-olds, the Merchants Challenge for youth ages 8-16, and the Species Challenge which is open to all entrants. Each category has participants catch a specific number of fish from certain species to qualify for prizes which include merchandise and trophies.

The entry fee is $5 and can be paid by cash or check. Participants can also be registered online and paid for by credit card. Registration can be completed at https://waynecountynysoilandwater.org/youth-derby/.
