Pedestrian injured in Meadow Street collision

A pedestrian was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle on South Meadow Street in Ithaca, according to local police.

The accident occurred around 4:24 p.m. in the 700 block of the roadway. Responding officers found both the driver and the injured pedestrian at the scene. The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.


Police determined the driver was at fault and issued tickets at the scene. The specific nature of the violations was not disclosed.

In a statement, the Ithaca Police Department urged both drivers and pedestrians to stay alert. “A few seconds of awareness can prevent serious accidents and save lives,” the release noted.
