The Tourism Advisory Committee is looking for applications for funding thanks to the Yates County Occupancy Tax, a 4% occupancy tax program implemented to promote, develop and protect the tourism industry in the area.
The grant program has deemed the importance to be establishing programs to promote and support the creation of activities that increase occupancy in the lodging sector of Yates County.
The TAC was created to advise the Yates County Legislature and is made up of local tourism professionals. It looks at the funding requests submitted from tourism agencies for the next fiscal year. They’re responsible for making the final recommendation for funding to the legislature in the county.
The deadline for applications are August 20 at 4 p.m. and available by request and at the Yates County Chamber of Commerce in Penn Yan.
Last year recipients included Yates County Chamber of Commerce (the county’s Tourism Promotion Agency), Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance, Finger Lakes Wine Country, Keuka Lake Wine Trail, Finger Lakes Museum, and Garces Design.
