Victor Farmington Library announces grand opening of Farmington’s Storywalk featuring local author’s book launch:
The Victor Farmington Library invites you to the Grand Opening of Farmington’s Storywalk® on Saturday, June 19th at Farmington Town Park. Festivities begin at 10 am. The featured story, “Milo’s Moonlight Mission”, is by local author Kathleen Blasi. To launch this newly published book, Blasi will read her story aloud as visitors tour the Storywalk®, and hold a post-walk book signing. Generous gifts from the Farmington-Victor Kiwanis Club and ROC the Day donors allowed the library to bring this educational, outdoor activity to Farmington.
Installed by volunteers from Victor Hiking Trails and employees of the Town of Farmington’s Highway/Parks Department, the Storywalk® will allow children and adults to enjoy reading while spending time outdoors. The story, which will change periodically, is geared to both adults and children. The brightly colored laminated pages of a picture book rest on stands mounted on posts around the park, all cut to size by talented volunteer Larry Fisher. You can learn more about Storywalks®, which are gaining popularity, on the library’s website, www.victorfarmingtonlibrary.org/storywalk .
For additional details on the Grand Opening, please visit the library’s website, victorfarmingtonlibrary.org or Facebook page, facebook.com/victorfarmingtonlibrary, or call the library at (585) 924-2637.
