Lottery payouts delayed in New York: Software glitch apparently to blame

State officials are blaming a ‘software glitch’ on an issue that’s leaving lottery winners unpaid in the state of New York.

It’s an issue that has apparently impacted winners of New York Lotto, Cash4Life and Take 5. It’s also put the Powerball game on pause in the state.

News10NBC reports that the glitch involves the numbers not being verifiable, which creates an issue of legitimacy on the state’s end.

It’s not that winning tickets are illegitimate, but that the state cannot verify what numbers are winning numbers. So, as a precaution, they are putting payouts on pause.

The issue is expected to be resolved in the coming weeks and those with winning tickets should hold on to them.
