First responders say the upper-dwelling in a multi-unit structure in the village of Shortsville was deemed uninhabitable after a fire on Saturday.
It happened around 10:45 p.m. when deputies and firefighters were dispatched to 31 W. Main St. in Shortsville for the report of a fire.
While the fire was extinguished by members of the Manchester and Shortsville fire departments- the unit where it originated was not inhabitable.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Deputies said the American Red Cross responded and helped with providing housing for the upstairs tenants.
