Sodus school bus driver on administrative leave after DWAI crash

The 62-year-old school bus driver in the Sodus Central School District who is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol is on administrative leave.

Daniel Cahill, 62, of Williamson was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol- having a BAC over 0.06%. He was also ticketed for moving from lane unsafely.


The school bus overturned on Rt. 88 around 1:40 p.m. There weren’t any children on the bus at the time.

Superintendent Nelson Kise told the Finger Lakes Times that the district was grateful there were no injuries to students.

“We are grateful that no students were on board at the time of the accident and that there were no injuries as a result of this accident,” he said. “The school district is following all legal procedures and fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies. The bus driver has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, as this is a personnel matter. The district cannot share any additional details regarding the employee.”
