The city of Auburn is seeking emergency demolition of a church on Wall Street.
It’s the Wall Street Methodist Episcopal Church- and last weekend, high winds did even more damage to the crumbling structure.
City Manager Jeff Dygert tells The Citizen that the city is seeking to demolish it as soon as possible due to the danger it poses.
“We’re significantly concerned about its structural stability,” Dygert told them. “And it’s different than (most) buildings. It’s so tall that the debris field and the collapse zone are very significant.”
While there was some local push to save the structure- it doesn’t appear those efforts will conclude or come together quickly enough given the fast decline of the church.
