A batch of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine failed quality standard checks, according to officials.
The company announced that an ingredient made by Emergent BioSolutions – one of about 10 companies that Johnson & Johnson is using to speed up manufacturing of its recently approved vaccine – did not meet quality standards.
The company says it will still be able to provide 100 million doses of the vaccine by the end of June.
Federal officials say they are confident of vaccination goals, even with the issue surrounding the J&J vaccine.
