What happens if New Yorkers lie about employment or pre-existing conditions to jump vaccine line?

If New Yorkers have a pre-existing condition and qualify for the COVID-19 vaccine- there’s a form that’s required before receiving it.

The recipient must ‘attest’ to the fact that they, in fact, have a pre-existing condition that qualifies.

The form reads “I hereby certify under penalty of law that I belong to one of the below priority groups eligible for vaccination.”

In the Finger Lakes- vaccine leaders aren’t asking for extensive proof- but it’s still a misdemeanor if you lie about an attestation, according to a recent Good Question segment by News10NBC.

The state Department of Health did not get back to them with comment on the number of violations to date.
