Sheriff Jim Allard says investigators took a 27-year-old Painted Post resident into custody following a sex offender investigation.
Jordan Sowersby, 27, of Painted Post was arrested after a search warrant was executed in the town of Erwin at his residence.
Sheriff Allard says that investigators from Steuben County were assisted by the FBI and New York State Police.
Sowersby was located and taken into custody for failing to change his address. It’s alleged that he also falsified a written instrument and filed that false statement with the Sheriff’s Office in an effort to conceal his failure to register.
Sowersby was charged with offering a false instrument for filing and failure to change address, both as felonies.
He was arraigned and will answer the charges at a later date.
