Rally planned for Saturday after allegations of mistreatment come to light within Geneva Housing Authority

There is a rally planned for Saturday in Geneva following allegations of mistreatment of a Section 8 housing voucher recipient by a GHA employee.

That story ran in the Finger Lakes Times over the weekend, and now, a rally is planned to take place at 41 Lewis St., at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

“Members of the Geneva community and their supporters from throughout the region will rally to demand housing justice and an end to racist and discriminatory treatment from the Geneva Housing Authority,” organizer Jodi Dean said in a press release.

The Times reported multiple instances of alleged mistreatment in a story published on Sunday.

“We have been ignored long enough,” Melinda Robinson said. She’s among those who filed complaints against the GHA. She will also speak at Saturday’s rally. “It’s time for justice. We are so blessed to have so much support from so many people and organizations. Together we can fight back for all women because we are stronger together.”
