Record breaking season for Sandhill Cranes at Montezuma Wetlands Complex

For the last several months Chris Lajewski has been marveling at the number of Sandhill Cranes at the Montezuma Wetlands Complex.

He serves as director of the Montezuma Audubon Center in Savannah.

The birds pass through Central New York every year, on their way to warmer climates. However, there were significantly more observed this year.

Altogether there were 256 observed at the 50,000-acre complex.
