Quarantine guidance has been reduced from 14 to 10 days. What does that mean?
Under the new guidelines, those who are exposed to COVID-19 can end their quarantine 10 days without a testing requirement as long as no symptoms have been reported during that period.
Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement earlier this week.
People must continue monitoring themselves for symptoms through 14 days, but no other action is required.
“While the holidays have always been synonymous with socialization, the data shows vast majority of new cases are stemming from private gatherings,” Cuomo said in a statement.
It’s still encouraged by public health experts to get a test if you’ve had direct exposure. Most counties in the region have been offering regular, free COVID-19 testing.
