Unemployment benefits have been expanded in the most-recent round of funding approved by Congress and signed into law by President Donald Trump.
According to Governor Andrew Cuomo the unemployment benefits in this bill will begin arriving next week.
For those receiving unemployment insurance, the $300 addition will first arrive the week of January 3rd.
“I have repeatedly called on the federal government to do the right thing by renewing critical benefits to support millions of unemployed families through to the end of this pandemic — and now that Washington has finally acted, New York is immediately delivering those funds,” Cuomo said in a statement Tuesday.
Altogether those who receive the maximum unemployment benefit will receive approximately $800 per week. Stimulus payments were also expected to begin going out Tuesday night. The expanded unemployment payments will run through March 14th.
