The coronavirus outbreak at the Huntington Living Center in Waterloo is worsening.
Officials provided an update on Christmas Eve, which outlined the total number of those infected with the virus as of that day.
An additional 20 residents have been confirmed to have COVID-19 since the facility’s last update. It brings the total number of residents with COVID-19 at Huntington to 87.
There have also been four resident deaths related to COVID since the last update. Officials said three additional staff members are quarantined.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts we share this news,” Karol Prayne, administrator of the facility said in a letter. “Our deepest condolences to the families who have lost loved ones. Our thoughts are with all our families at this time and we continue to work every day to provide care during this recent surge of the pandemic.”
Vaccination clinics are expected to begin at Huntington on January 6th.
