A beach is expensive, but apparently a swimming pool would be less costly.
That is the internal discussion happening right now among some members of Geneva City Council.
Councilors discussed an array of options, including a beach, spray park, and swimming pool – or some combination of the three.
Each of the options would cost in the millions, but most of Council agreed that some water-related amenity in the area of Geneva’s lakefront property would make sense.
One major roadblock discussed was a wastewater pipe that would need to be extended further out into the lake if a beach were simply constructed.
It made some councilors think about other options – like a spray park or pool. A decision has not been made, and the expectation is that discussion will continue at future meetings.
