Deputies: Canandaigua man arrested on felony charges after erratic driving

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that around 2 p.m. on Sunday a Canandaigua man was arrested for felony driving while ability impaired by drugs.

Deputies said in a press release that two calls had been made to the Ontario County 911 Center for a vehicle that was driving erratically.

That vehicle was eventually located at the Speedway gas station in Victor. Deputies located the operator, who was identified as 29-year-old Brett Newman.

The Canandaigua resident was taken into custody for driving while ability impaired by drugs. Due to a previous DWI conviction – Newman’s charge was upgraded to felony status.

He was issued several traffic citations for driving while ability impaired, two different counts of aggravated unlicensed operation, and operating without an interlock device.

Deputies say the charges will be answered at a later date in Victor Court.
