The Cato Meridian Central School District is launching COVID-19 testing on Monday.
The district notified families in a letter, noting that they are prepared to begin COVID-19 testing.
“The majority of [parents/guardians] have filled out the google form indicating whether you give consent to the school district to test your child,” officials wrote in the letter. “If you have not done so, please go to the front page of our district website to complete the form.”
Officials say that there are 600+ responses to date, with 58% of parents consenting to have their children tested.
“This onset will be good for the month of December,” the letter added. “Starting in January we will be asking you to fill out another consent form. For as long as testing lasts, we will send a monthly consent form.”
Staff member testing consent is at 81%, according to officials.
The school district said in the letter that more testing will help drive down positive rates in the County and ensure that the community can stay out of the yellow zone.
