First responders say five people were hurt in a serious, one-car crash on State Route 54 in Yates County on Sunday.
It happened in the town of Torrey – east of Ridge Road, according to first responders.
Kyle Hayes, 22, of Penn Yan was said to be driving east around 10 p.m. when his vehicle left the north side of the road – struck a ditch, utility pole, and electric fence before coming to rest in a field.
His vehicle traveled nearly 500 feet off the roadway, according to first responders.
All five individuals inside the vehicle were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Haytes was found to be under the influence of alcohol, and charged with driving while intoxicated.
