Sheriff: Standoff at vacant building along 5&20 ends peacefully in Cayuga County

Sheriff Brian Schenck says that around 6:15 p.m. law enforcement was called to an address on Clark Street Road (5&20) in the town of Aurelius for the report of subjects entering and occupying a vacant residence.

Upon arrival, deputies and state police officers made contact with a subject inside who was uncooperative.

Sheriff Schenck says it was confirmed that no one had authorization to be inside the residence, and that additional units were called for support.

The roadway was shut down until negotiations were completed with both subjects.

Howard Lainhart III, 46, formerly of Clyde was charged with second-degree trespass and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Kimberly Lindsey, 47, formerly of Kirkwood was charged with second-degree criminal trespass.

Sheriff Schenck says the Sheriff’s Office was assisted by New York State Police, the Cayuga County 911 enter, Aurelius Fire Department and Cayuga Ambulance.
