COVID cases on the rise at Cayuga Correctional Facility

State officials have confirmed that cases are on the rise at the Cayuga Correctional Facility.

The Auburn Citizen reported Wednesday that the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision reported 23 new cases among incarcerated individuals.

It brought the total number of cases at the prison to 29.

DOCCS contends that those with symptoms are isolated and tested. Once positive cases are identified, much like the process goes in the public setting, contact tracing is completed to identify potential contacts.

Other facilities in the state are dealing with COVID clusters, too. However, visitation at Cayuga had not been suspended as of late-Wednesday.
